Beast Wars is an American/Canadian cartoon that was released in September 16, 1996 and it ended on March 7, 1999. It was the first series in the Western part of the franchise since the The Transformers that was entirely made up of new animation. When the show aired on Fox Kids some episodes were censored due to their violent content.

Canada Censorship[]
In the YTV airings, the title was changed to "Beasties", due to the Canadian TV regulation not allowing the word "wars" in a children's program.
UK Censorship[]
The producers of the cartoon "Beast Wars" invented the word "slag" to be used as a swear word by the characters.
Nicktoons UK[]
In British English, "slag" is also slang for "slut" and "skank". Showing of Beast Wars in the UK were on early morning magazine show GMTV, and the word was usually excised.
