Fallout 3 is a American RPG that was developed by Bethesda Game Studios and was published by Bethesda Softworks, and the game was released on October 28, 2008. Due to a controversy regarding drug use in Fallout 3 every region censored the game. As a result drug references were toned down.


Australian CensorshipEdit

  • The game was originally banned in Australia due to the drug "morphine" being included in the game, and the Australian government determined that the game was rewarding players who took the drug. The game was eventually released, but was censored.
  • The drug "morphine" was renamed to "Med-X".

Japan CensorshipEdit

  • The drug "morphine" was renamed to "Med-X".
  • The Mr. Burke side quest was removed from the "The Power of the Atom" side quest, as a result in is impossible to detonate the nuclear bomb.
  • The "Fat Man" nuclear catapult weapon was renamed "Nuka Launcher".

German CensorshipEdit

  • The drug "morphine" was renamed to "Med-X".
  • Blood and gore was removed from the German release.

International CensorshipEdit

  • Due to Bethesda wanting ensure the game's release/ avoid controversy the drug "morphine" was renamed to "Med-X".
