Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is an action adventure video game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. The video game was released on 29 October 2002. In order to be released with a USK 16 rating in Germany, the game had to be censored. Due to CERO guidelines the game was censored in Japan. After Haitian Centers Council and Haitian Americans for Human Rights staged protests over the game's depictions of Haitians, Rockstar eventually bowed to public pressure and censored newer versions of the game in North America.

The Mission Two Bit Hit
- The line "Now recently a Hatian Gang Lord died. Apparently the Cubans did it, nobody's certain." was changed to "Now recently a gang lord died." (Changed in versions 3.0 and onwards)
- The text "Take out a Hatian Gang Lord at Romero's Funeral Parlor." was changed to "Take out of the Gang Lord at Romero's Funeral Parlor." (Changed in versions 3.0 and onwards)
- If you fail the mission the text "Fool! People have to witness a Cuban doing the hit." was changed to "Fool! People have to witness a gangmember doing the hit." (Changed in versions 3.0 and onwards)
The Mission Guardian Angel
- The text "Haitians! They're busting the deal! Protect Diaz!" was changed to "They're busting the deal!" (Changed in versions 3.0 and onwards)
- The line "These Haitians think they can take on Ricardo and Diaz!?" was changed to "They think they can take on Ricardo and Diaz!?" (Changed in versions 3.0 and onwards)
- The line "Don't just stand there, you pricks, chase that Haitian dickhead down!" was changed to "Don't just stand there, you pricks, chase that dickhead down!" (Changed in versions 3.0 and onwards)
The Mission Cannon Fodder
- The line "The Haitians! I hate these Haitians!" was changed to "They mess with me, they mess with me for the last time!"
- The line "These Hai - these Haitians! We take 'em out!" was changed to "We take 'em out. Only we need some backup."
- The line "Take my boys over there, and then we'll take these Haitians down!" was changed to "Amigo. Take my boys over there."
- The text "Little Haiti will be swamming with Haitians trying to even the score with the Cubans. Watch your back." was changed to "Little Haiti will be swarming with rival gangsters trying to even the score. Watch your back!"
- The line "Kill all the Haitians!" was changed to "Get them all!"
- The text "Finish off the rest of the Haitians so the Cubans can move foward." was changed to "Finish them off so we can move foward."

German censorship[]

The game was originally banned due to high-impact gory violence. The game eventually was released in Germany in 2012, though the game was censored.
You can no longer attack defenseless enemies when they are on the ground.
Blood splatters and pools of blood were removed.
You can no longer blast people's heads off with the sniper rifle.
Dead people no longer spawn cash near them.
All Rampage missions were removed.
The Missions Messing With The Man and Dirty Lickin's were removed.

Japanese censorship[]

The nude poster in Vercetti's house was changed to an animal poster.
You can no longer blast people's heads off with the sniper rifle.

Saudi Arabian censorship[]

The video game is banned in Saudi Arabia due to its violent content.

Where to find it uncensored[]

Every other country and region has it uncensored, and Germany has a uncut USK-18 rated version available.
