Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories is an action adventure game developed by Rockstar Leeds/Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. A prequel to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, it was first released in North America on October 31, 2006. The game was censored in Japan to comply with CERO guidelines. In order to eventually get released in Germany in 2012, the game had to be censored.

The game was originally banned in Germany due to high-impact gory violence, but was later released in 2012 after being censored to receive a USK 16 rating.

  • You can no longer kick defenseless opponents who are lying on the ground.
  • The chainsaw attack no longer has blood effects.
  • It is no longer possible to have a fatal blow kick on someone lying on the ground.
  • Shooting dead corpses no longer creates any additional blood effects.
  • Blood splatters and pools of blood were removed.
  • When running over people in a car the uncensored version would have bloody tire marks. The German version removed this blood effect.
  • You can no longer blast people's heads off with the sniper rifle.
  • Dead people no longer have cash spawn near them.
  • The body count statistic was removed.

Japanese censorship[]

  • You can no longer shoot limbs off people.
  • You can no longer blast people's heads off with the sniper rifle.
  • Dead people no longer have cash spawn near them.
  • The mission Narcotics was renamed Sugar.
  • The mission prostitution was renamed dispatch.

Saudi Arabian censorship[]

  • The video game is banned in Saudi Arabia due to it's violent content.
