Mario Party DS is a party video game that was developed by Hudson Soft and published by Nintendo. The video game was released on November 8, 2007. When the game was brought over to South Korea in 2008 it had to be censored due to laws involving gambling.

Censorship[]

South Korean censorship[]

  • The minigames Shuffleboard Showdown and Chips and Dips were removed due to the casino theme of those minigames, although there is no simulated gambling. There was no minigame substituted for the removals, leaving the South Korean version with two fewer minigames.
  • The Bowser's Pinball Machine board was modified to remove simulated gambling elements:
    • The section containing the Chests of Chance (three slot jackpot) was replaced by a simpler UFO game where the player has to hit the UFO for coins.
    • The Wheel of Wonder was replaced by a Whack-a-Mole game where the player has to whack Bowser for coins (while hitting Bob-ombs reduces coins gained).
