Saw VI is a 2009 American horror film directed by Kevin Greutert. It is the sixth entry in the Saw film series. It was released in theaters in the United States on October 23, 2009.
The release of the film was delayed in Spain because of a ratings issue, and the distributor eventually released a cut version of the film in Spain. The film was banned outright in Malaysia and Thailand.

Less than a week before its premiere, the film was rated "X" in Spain due to its "glorification of violence", therefore couldn't be shown in mainstream theaters and only in approved X-rated cinemas. The distributor tried appealing but was unsuccessful. In the end, they released a cut version that was given an "18" rating. This approved censored version was released in Spanish theaters on October 8, 2010. Two scenes were trimmed to appease the levels of violence and gore: the ending of the opening scene, depicting Simone cutting off her own arm in order to survive the game, was drastically reduced, and Strahm's crushed remains after the ending of Saw V are never shown.
Thai censorship[]
Saw VI was banned due to pro-Thaksin protests and violence in Thailand.

The "Montaje del Productor", the original X-rated version of the film, is available. An unrated director's cut version is available as well, containing much more graphic violence.
