Super Castlevania IV

Super Castlevania IV is a Japanese action platforming game that was developed by Konami and it was published by Konami. The game was released on October 31, 1991, due to Konami wanting to make the game more family friendly for it's western release violence was toned down and religious elements were removed.

International Censorship

• The title screen was modified for the western release. In the uncensored version, it shows blood dripping off of the game title, and it shows a pool of blood. In the western release, the blood was digitally removed.
• The scene that shows a graveyard was modified for the western release. In the Western version the crosses that were on the graves were digitally removed.
• The password save screen was modified for the western release. In the uncensored version the mural shows Jesus, and a cross. In the western release Jesus and the cross were digitally removed.
• The scene that shows crosses in the background of the stables level was modified for the western release. In the western release the crosses were digitally removed.
• The scene that shows the main character walking past a graveyard was modified for the western release. In the western version the crosses were digitally removed.
• The scene that shows the main character walking past a nude statue in the main hall was modified for the western release. In the western version the woman's clothing was digitally extended, as a result you can no longer see her breasts.
• In the western release the spikes in the Dungeon level were modified. In the western version the blood was digitally recolored green.
• In the western release the blood on the wall in the Dungeon level was modified. In the western release the blood was digitally removed.
• In the western release the sea of blood in the Dungeon level was modified. In the western release the blood was digitally recolored green.
• In the western release the level "The Treasury" was modified. In the western version the tint crosses that were on the piles of gold in the background were digitally removed.
• The coffins that attack Simon were modified for the western release. In the western version the cross was digitally removed.

The Japanese version was completely uncensored.
