This is an incomplete (and constantly growing) list of television series that have been censored.

  • Cowboy Bebop- 12 episodes were pulled from the TV broadcast after complaints about its graphic content.
  • Kare Kano- A scene that shows intercourse was cut from the TV broadcast, it was added back into the home video release.

Animax

  • Earth Maiden Arjuna- One of the episodes was pulled from broadcast TV due to controversial material

Fox Kids

  • Escaflowne- Violence was toned down for the TV broadcast.
  • Tiny Toon Adventures- One episode was banned to due alcohol use.
  • Transformers: Robots in Disguise- One of the episodes was pulled from reruns due to the 9/11 attacks.
  • Silver Surfer - In the comics Thanos loves lady death, in the show lady death is  changed to lady choas this is due to the show not being allowed to say the word death.
  • X-Men - The dark phoenix saga is censored, in the comics when the phoenix destorys a solor system everyone in it dies. In the cartoon no one lives in that solar system. The show tones down the comics material.

Disney XD

  • Naruto Shippuden - The show was censored due to the Disney XD wanting a PG-TV rating.
  • Yo-Kai Watch - The show was censored due to the Disney XD wanting it to be more family friendly.

Discovery Channel

  • Colony - Strong language was bleeped out on the TV broadcast.

Tokyo MX

  • Akame ga Kill- Scenes that showed strong violence were censored, shadows were used to tone down the violence on the TV broadcast.
  • Big Order- Nudity was censored.
  • Black Lagoon- Strong language was censored on TV broadcast.
  • Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School- Scenes that showed strong violence were censored, black bars were used to tone down the violence on the TV broadcast.
  • Deadman Wonderland - Scenes that showed strong violence were censored, shadows were used to tone down the violence. Strong language was bleeped out on the TV broadcast and nudity was censored.
  • JoJo's Bizarre Adventure- Any scene that showed underage smoking was censored on the TV broadcast.
  • Manyū Hiken-chō- Nudity was censored.
  • Terra Formars- Scenes that showed strong violence were censored, black bars were used to tone down the violence on the TV broadcast
  • Tokyo Ghoul- Scenes that showed strong violence were censored, shadows were used to tone down the violence on the TV broadcast.
  • Tokyo Ghoul Root A- Scenes that showed strong violence were blured.

Starz

  • Black Sails - When the Pilot was realsed on Youtube it was censored due to the show targeting a TV-14 rating. As a result Strong language and nudity was removed.
  • Spartacus - Some nudity was removed and some of the more graphic sex scenes were cut from the TV broadcast.

AMC

  • Breaking Bad- The words "Fuck" and "Shit" were muted and the TV broadcast, nudity was blurred on the TV broadcast.
  • Preacher - The word "Fuck" was muted on the TV broadcast.

Comedy Central

  • Drawn Together- Nudity and strong language were censored on the TV broadcast, the DVD is uncensored.
  • Futurama- Strong language is censored on both the TV broadcast and the DVD, was censored in order to get a TV-14 rating.
  • Reno 911!- Strong language are bleeped out on the TV broadcast, but the DVD is uncensored.
  • South Park - The words "Fuck" and "Shit were bleeped out on the TV broadcast, one of the episodes was banned.

Syfy

  • Battlestar Galatica- Some scenes were removed from the TV broadcast due to time constraints.
  • Bitten- Nudity is censored on the TV broadcast, the DVD is uncensored, it order to get a TV-14 rating.
  • Caprica-  Nudity and violence is censored in the pilot order to get a TV-14 rating the dvd has it uncensored.
  • Continuum- The word "Shit" was muted and sexuality was toned down.
  • Spartacus- Due to the TV network standards nudity and strong language was censored on the TV broadcast.
  • Stargate SG-1- Nudity was removed and violence was tonned down, due to the show targeting a TV-14 rating. It is uncensored on the DVD's.
  • The Magicians- The word "Fuck" was muted on the TV broadcast.
  • The Expanse- The word "Fuck" was muted on the TV broadcast, and sexuality was toned down.

Kids' WB

  • Baby Looney Tunes- One of the episodes censors the swear words that one of the charaters says.
  • Pokemon- Some episodes were banned, and violence was toned down for the TV broadcast.
  • Tiny Toon Adventures- One of the episodes was banned due to alcohol use.

CBS

  • Dexter-The show was censored in order to air with a TV-14 rating, bloody images were cut, nudity was removed, strong language was censored, and sexual situations. The word Fuck was changed to frickin and mother lover.
  • Looney Tunes- Due to the networks standards some episodes were banned, and violence was toned down.
  • Without a Trace - Due to one of the episodes contanting explicit sexual material, the FCC fined CBS.

ABC

  • Looney Tunes- Due to the networks standards some episodes were banned, and violence was toned down.
  • Gargolyles- The episode Deadly force was banned, but they latter released a censored version.
  • The Real O'Neals- Profanity is bleeped out.

BBC

  • Looney Tunes- Any scene that showed alcohol was cut
  • Top Gear- The word "fuck" is bleeped out.

Spike

  • Afro Samurai- Strong anguage was comeplty removed from the TV broadcast, some blood and violence was removed, and some minor swear words was censored. The DVD version is uncensored.
  • Blade: The Series- The TV version was rated TV-14 but to achieve that rating many scenes were edited or removed, any scene with nudity, graphic violence or strong language were removed. Spike latter released a unrated edition on DVD's.
  • Cops- Nudity and strong language are censored, in order to get a TV-PG/TV-14 rating.
  • Ren and Stimpy: Adult Party Cartoon- Strong language was bleeped out on TV broadcast, but the DVD is uncensored.
  • Stripperella- Nudity is blurred out on the TV broadcast, but it is uncensored on the DVD.

Fox

  • American Dad- When American Dad was on FOX many of the episodes were censored due to the networks strict standards on language but its uncensored on DVD.
  • America's Most Wanted- Strong language was bleeped out on the TV and on the DVD's.
  • Bordertown (2016 TV Series) - Strong Language is bleeped out on TV.
  • Cops- Nudity and strong language are censored.
  • The Cleveland Show- Strong language is bleeped out on TV but the DVD is uncensored.
  • Family Guy- When Family Guy airs on fox many of the episodes are censored due to the networks strict standards on language. Some episodes were completely removed, one such episode was the abortion episode, but the DVD is uncensored.
  • Simpsons- Strong language was censored on the TV broadcast and the DVD's.
  • The X-Files- The episode Home was removed from the network, due to being rated TV-MA for graphic violence and blood and banned from television, but it's featured on DVD.

TBS

  • American Dad- Nudity was censored and some sexual references and strong language was cut of the TV broadcast version in order to get a TV-14 rating. The word shit is was uncensored due to being on a different network, the dvd's are uncensored.
  • Futurama- Religious references were bleeped out for the TV broadcast.
  • Sex in the City- Nudity was censored, sexually explicit dialogue was removed and the show was made more family friendly.

4Kids

  • Kirby: Right Back at Ya!- Some violence, achole use, guns, profanity, weapons and bathroom humor were cut.
  • Ojamjo Doremi- Violence, death and achole use were cut.
  • One Piece- Perhaps 4Kid's most notoriously censored title; it was heavily cut and modified to remove its dark elements and violence in order to get a TV-Y7-FV rating. Now that the show is owned by FUNimation, they releases the show uncut with a TV-14 rating.
  • Sonic X- Due to the show targeting a TV-Y7-FV rating, some violence was toned down and some sexuality was toned down.
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003)- One of the episodes was  banned due to graphic violence.
  • Yu-Gi-OH Duel Monsters- Any scenes that showed strong violence were toned down, any mention of death was removed from the show and replaced with different words to keep the show more family friendly, any scenes with wine were changed to juice, and all guns on the show were removed. The character outfits were modified to be more kid friendly. Due to these changes the show was rated TV-Y7-FV.

History Channel

  • Vikings- Violence and nudity were either toned down or completely removed to get a TV-14 rating. The uncensored Blu-Ray discs are rated TV-MA.

Cartoon Network Australia

  • Adventure Time- A number of episodes have received cuts for mild language, violence, and innuendo in order to receive a G rating.
  • Codename: Kids Next Door- Violence was tonned down.
  • Chowder- Crude language was removed.
  • Clarence - Violence was tonned down.
  • Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack- Violence was tonned down and smoking was removed.
  • Regular Show- Crude language, sexual innuendo and any scene that has reckless behavior were cut.
  • Sailor Moon- Some blood was digitally removed, nudity was removed, and sexual situations were censored.
  • Steven Universe- Sexual innuedeno is cut and the violence is tonned down.
  • The Amazing World of Gumball- Unlike the usa's censorship (witch was only minor edits for the most part) the Australian censorship cuts out any scene that has suggestive dialog or violence.
  • The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy- Violence was toned down.
  • The Tom and Jerry Show- Violence was toned down.

Cartoon Network UK

  • Adventure Time- Scenes that shows reckless violence were removed, sexuality was toned down and language was toned down.
  • Regular Show- Scenes that shows reckless violence were removed, sexuality was toned down and language was toned down.
  • Teen Titans Go!- Violence was toned down and scenes that had suggestive dialogue or suggestive scenes were removed.

  • Regular Show- Scenes that showed reckless violence were removed, sexuality was toned down and language was toned down for the Turkish broadcast.

Cartoon Network USA

  • Dragon Ball Z-Blood was removed, language was removed and any mention of death was removed from the show.
  • G-Force Guardians of Space - Violence was toned down.
  • Justice League Unlimited - The episode Task Force X ccould not use the term suicide.
  • Looney Tunes - Some episodes were removed from broadcast tv due to racism, some of the violence was removed in order to be more family friendly.
  • Mobile Fighter G Gundam -Some scenes were modified in order to make it more family friendly.
  • Mobile Suit Gundam- Nudity was censored.
  • Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team- Violence was tonned down, blood was digitally removed, swear words were muted or changed to other words, sexuality was tonned down, and nudity was removed.
  • Mobile Suit Gundam Wing- Violence, profanity and any reference towards killing or death was removed.
  • MGM Cartoons- Some episodes were removed from broadcast TV due to racism, some of the violence was removed in order to be more family friendly.
  • Naruto- Alcoholic drinks, mild language, mild sexual situations, and  blood and death remain but they were reduced. The uncensored dvd adds it back in.
  • Neon Genesis Evangelion- Alcoholic drinks were removed, language was censored, nudity and sexual innuendo was removed.
  • Outlaw Star-Nudity was censored, violence was toned down, clothing was digititaly added in and altered, sexural themes were censored and one of the episodes was nothing aired due to sexural themes.
  • Pokemon- Some episodes were banned from television.
  • The Powerpuff Girls- One episode was banned due to unknown reasons.
  • Stoked! - Crude language was removed.
  • Sailor Moon- Some blood was digitally removed, nudity was removed, and sexual situations were censored
  • Space Ghost Coast to Coast- Strong language was bleeped out of the TV broadcast and some scenes were modfied in order to be more family friendy.
  • Star Wars The Clone Wars (TV Show)- Violence was toned down for the TV broadcast.

  • Total Drama Action -Sexual innuendo and strong language was removed.
  • Total Drama World Tour -Sexual innuendo and strong language was removed.
  • Total Drama Revenage of the Island -Removed some references to other companies.
  • Total Drama Presents: The Ridonculous Race -Any reference to death was removed.
  • The Big O- Violence was tonned down, blood was digitally removed, alcohol was removed and smoking was removed.
  • Voltron- Violence was tonned down, blood was digitally removed and any reference to death was removed.

Adult-Swim

  • Aqua Teen Hunger Force- Strong Language and nudity is censored, asshole was censored until season 3, shit was censored until season 10, The first six volumes are still censored but on the Volume 7 and Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1 DVDs, the profanity is uncensored but the nudity is still censored. One of the epsidoes was banned.
  • Black Lagoon- The word "Fuck" was censored on the show.
  • Blue Gender - The anime was censored in order to appeal to a boarder audience, nudity, sex and graphic violence were completely removed.
  • Check it out! with Dr. Steve Brule - Strong language and explicit dialogue is censored both on TV and DVD. Shit was censored at first, but it is uncensored after the first two seasons.
  • Code Geass- Nudity was pixelated for the TV broadcast.
  • Cowboy Bebop- Drug references were cut, crude language was removed and all sexual references were removed. Blood effects were so digitally removed. Three episodes were pulled from the TV broadcast.
  • Deadman Wonderland - Scenes with nudity and the words "Fuck" and "Shit" were censored for the TV broadcast.
  • Ghost in the Shell: Stand Along Complex- The words "Shit" and "Fuck" were censored for the TV broadcast.

  • Metalacolypse- Strong Language and Nudity is censored both on TV and the first two seasons on DVD, but it is uncensored on Seasons 3 and 4 on DVD and Blu-ray. Violence was also extended on the season 3 DVD as well.
  • Mobile Suit Gundam 0083- Violence was toned down, alcohol was removed, and any reference towards death or killing was removed and swear words were removed.
  • Neon Genesis Evangelion- The word shit was censored, nudity and sexual innuendo were censored.
  • Paranoia Agent- Nudity and strong language and anything reference to religon was censored.
  • Parasyte- The scene that shows Migi turns into a penis was cut.
  • Rick and Morty- Strong Language is censored on tv, but its uncensored on DVD/Blu-Ray. Shit is usually uncensored on TV, but some it is sometimes censored.
  • Robot Chicken- Strong language such as fuck and cunt is bleeped out on TV but uncensored on DVD/Blu-Ray, asshole was censored until season 2, and shit was censored until season 7.
  • Space Ghost Coast to Coast- Strong language was bleeped out on the TV, it remains censored on the DVD.
  • Samurai Champloo- The word "Shit" was muted and nudity was censored.
  • Sailor Moon- Some blood was digitally removed, nudity was removed, and sexual situations were censored.
  • Sealab 2021- Strong language were bleeped out in both tv and DVD.
  • Squidbillies- Strong language such as fuck is censored on both TV and DVD. Goddamn was censored until season 8 and Shit was censored until season 9.
  • Sword Art Online- The words "Shit" and "Goddamn" were bleeped out for the TV broadcast.
  • The Boondocks- Strong language such as fuck is censored but its uncensored on DVD, Asshole was censored until season 2, Pussy was censored until season 3, and Shit is uncensored in season 4.
  • Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann- Nudity was censored.
  • Trigun- Strong language was cut, nudity was removed and violence was tonned down.

BBFC

  • Angelic Layer- acommentary track was trimmed to remove the word 'retard' in order to receive a PG certificate.
  • Braceface - (volume 4) - A use of the word 'spaz' was removed in order to receive a PG certificate.
  • Gunbuster - (episode 2) - 36 seconds of sexualized nudity/imagery cut in order to receive a PG certificate.
  • Guyver- (episode 12) - Unknown 20 seconds of cuts made to receive a 15 certificate.
  • Lizzie McGuire- (volume 2) - Scenes of children electrocuting adults cut in order to receive a U certificate.
  • Street Fighter V- (volumes 1 and 2) - Cuts made to strong violence in order to receive a 12 certificate.
  • Urusei Yatsura- (volume 4) - Scene involving nunchucks removed in order to receive a PG certificate.

GameTap

  • Space Ghost Coast to Coast- Strong Language was bleeped out on the internet, it remains censored on the website.

Amazon Instant Video

  • Stargate SG-1- Nudity was removed, and the violence was tonned down in order to get a TV-14 rating.
  • The Grand Tour- The word "fuck" is bleeped out.

NBC

  • Hannibal- Nudity was censored, one of the episode's was pulled from the network due to the episode having a teacher teaching students how to kill.
  • The Office- The words "Fuck", "Shit", "Asshole", and "Goddamn" are bleeped out.

FX

  • American Horror Story- Violence was toned down for the TV broadcast.
  • Archer- Strong language is censored on the TV and the DVD's.
  • It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia- Strong language was bleeped out on the TV, but the DVD's are uncensored.

FXX

  • It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia- strong language are bleeped out in tv but the dvd is uncensored.

Syndication

  • Battle of the Planets- Violence and alchol was toned down for the TV broadcast.
  • Robotech- Nudity was removed from for the TV broadcast, and violence was toned down.
  • Star Sheriffs- Violence was toned down for the TV broadcast
  • Star Blasers- Violence and alchol was toned down for the TV broadcast.

FSK (Germany)

  • Bible Black- Cut further than necessarily from its uncensored hardcore adult version in order to receive a 16 rating.

KMRB (South Korea)

  • Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic- Season 1 was edited for a 15 rating.
  • Oreimo- Edited for a 15 rating.

Nickelodeon

  • Digimon Fusion- Sexuality was toned down and violence was toned down.
  • Looney Tunes- Some scenes that showed strong violence were cut.
  • Rocko's Modern Life- Due to standards changing over time, scenes that were originally broadcast with a TV-Y7 rating have been edited in later reruns to maintain the same rating.
  • The Ren and Stimpy Show- Due to network standards changing over time, scenes that were originally broadcast with a TV-Y7 rating have been edited in later reruns to maintain the same rating.
  • Tiny Toon Adventures- One episode was banned due to alcohol use.
